Sundowns Rewrite PSL History with Most League Wins Against Rivals

Aubrey Modiba and Marcelo Allende of Mamelodi Sundowns celebrate their 1-0 Betway Premiership win against AmaZulu at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Tuesday night.

Mamelodi Sundowns continue to underline their dominance in the Premier Soccer League, setting a new benchmark for league victories against key rivals.

According to Opta statistics, Sundowns have recorded their highest number of PSL wins against several established opponents, led by an impressive 32 victories in 46 league matches against AmaZulu, losing just five times in the process.

They have also enjoyed strong returns against SuperSport United (30 wins in 58 matches) and Orlando Pirates (28 wins from 60 encounters), highlighting their long-term consistency against traditional heavyweights.

Further dominance is evident against Bloemfontein Celtic, Golden Arrows, and Bidvest Wits, where Sundowns boast commanding win ratios and relatively few defeats.

These numbers reinforce Sundowns’ status as the era-defining force in the PSL, built on sustained excellence rather than short-term success — a record that continues to separate them from the rest of the league.
