PSL Draws: The Unlikely Art of Not Winning (But Not Losing Either)

Thuso Moleleki battles Tlou Nkwe in a fiery encounter, with Polokwane City sharing the spoils in a 2-2 draw at Old Peter Mokaba Stadium.

In the 2025/26 South African Premier Soccer League, sharing points has become a surprisingly common theme — and sometimes the most dramatic result of all. With 129 of 240 matches played so far, about 27 % of them have finished in draws (that’s 35 stalemates and rising).

That figure tells an interesting story: more than 1 in every 4 matches sees both sides settling for a point rather than going for all three — a sign of tight competition and tactical caution across the league.

Some clubs seem especially happy to split the spoils. Richards Bay FC tops the draw charts with 7 stalemates in 16 matches (about 44 % of their games!). Kaizer Chiefs, Polokwane City, Chippa United and Marumo Gallants also feature prominently when it comes to matches ending all square.

On the other end of the spectrum are sides that rarely settle for a draw. Teams like Orbit College FC and Lamontville Golden Arrows FC have only shared points twice so far — showing they either push for a win or risk a loss instead of settling in the midfield.

Whether you love them or hate them, draws are shaping the story of this PSL season — and could be pivotal in the race for continental spots and survival battles alike.
